This week in literacy we will continue to learn the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

Gunpowder Plot

For more great animations, subscribe to our youtube channel. You can find more information about our...

Sentence writing - Please ask you child to write a sentence about something they remember from last week. What was their favourite Guy Fawkes activity? Remember to use your toolkit. Capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and writing on the line. Use the phonics mats to help segment and blend the words.

Model to your child how to write a list. Make a tool kit - We need: capital letters, full stops, bullet points, writing on the next line etc. Ask your child to then write a list of things they need to wear at a firework display. Explain that it would be very cold and what things do we need on a cold day. Use the word mats to help you.

Why do we have firework celebrations?

Use the information PPT to help the children answer the question why do we have firework celebrations? Then ask the children to create their very own firework picture and label it with a key word. Encourage the children to use their senses - What can they hear? What can they see? What can they smell etc?

Children in need - Please use the Children in Need power point to inform your child about the charity. Complete the Children in Need crafts on the Topic star.

Recap of the week - What have we learnt this week?  Can you write a list?
