This term we will be looking at recounts. A recount is when you retell something that has happened in your life and you write it down. It's purpose is to tell you what has happened. 

Miss King has written a recount about what she has done over half term - have a read with your grown up and discuss what you did over half term.

Monday

Starter: Read the recount written by Miss King – Talk your grown up. What did you do over half term?

 

Main: Have a look at the PowerPoint for recounts. Talk to your grown up and explain three key things you need to remember when writing a recount.

 

Challenge: Odd one out – Which picture is the odd one and out. If you find it tricky to write a sentence you may tell your grown up verbally.

Starter: Explain three key things you need to remember when writing a recount.  

 

Main: Have a look at the time conjunctions work sheet. Can you write three sentences using time conjunctions about being at school or school from home?

 

Please use the writing success criteria to check you have your capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Wednesday

Starter: Tricky words – listen to the tricky words song. Can you spell any of the words in the song? Tricky Words and Sight Words Song - YouTube

 

Main: Today we are going to plan our very own half term recount – use the template provided to draw pictures of what you did over half term. If you can write key words next to your pictures to help you remember.

Friday

Starter: Can you describe Cinderella? Make sure you use lots of adjectives!

 

Main: Write a sentence about something you have done over half term.

 

Make sure you use a time conjunction in your writing.

 

Remember to use your writing success criteria. Have you got a capital letter, full stop and finger space?

 

Challenge: Can you extend your sentence by adding a conjunction?
