This week we will be looking at events in the Garden of Gethsemane. These are Jesus' betrayal by Judas Iscariot and how Peter denied Jesus 3 times.
Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus' disciples. He was bribed with money to tell some men that didn't like Jesus teachings where he was so he could be arrested. Judas told them Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane with his disciples and Judas would show the men which one Jesus was by kissing him on the cheek. He took the men and some Roman soldiers with him and after he showed them which man was Jesus , Jesus was arrested. We call this Judas' Betrayal.
Before Judas arrived, Jesus told another disciple called Peter that before the cockerel crowed that Peter would tell people that he did not know Jesus and that they were not friends. Peter said that he would never do this. When the soldiers arrested Jesus, Peter followed them back into town. Some of the townspeople pointed him out and said that he was Jesus' friend but Peter said he did not know Jesus Three times he was accused of knowing Jesus and he said he did not know him each time. Then the cockerel crowed. Peter was heartbroken when he realised that what Jesus had said he would do had come true. We call this Peter's Denial.
