Week 8 home learning

Hello Everybody

I hope you have all had a restful half term.

I hope you all saw Mrs Aslett's weekly message to you and so are aware of the new way of posting activities. Here's a recap:

  • We will be posting once a week (Sunday night/ Monday morning).
  • The activities will be linked to a book or theme (mini-beast related)
  • There will be a list of activities that you can choose to do instead of a specific literacy+maths activity daily.
  • You can choose to do as many as you like but we would still like to see evidence on Tapestry please.
  • Other activities that you may think of that are linked to the book would be wonderful too! Be creative!!

This week's topic is The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle (the same author as The Very Hungry Caterpillar).

There are LOTS of activities on TWINKL to do with Spiders if you wanted some different ideas or extra ones to keep your little people busy. I just searched for "spider activities" on the website.

You could even link it to Spiderman if you were really struggling to inspire or motivate your child (I know it's difficult!). Could you write a sentence about what Spiderman looks like? Or label a picture of him "web", "mask", "suit" (probably spelt "soot" by the children) etc. Could you even get your child to write a story about Spiderman saving someone/ write if for them with their ideas?

Obviously phonics will continue to be daily. This really is SO important to make sure that you keep on top of, especially as they're only on YouTube for 24 hours before being replaced with the next sound. You should all have individual posts letting you know what your phonics activities are for the week.

Thankyou all for your continued hard work and patience during this difficult time!

School closes for pupils in Reception and Year 1 on Friday at lunchtime, except for keyworker and vulnerable pupils. School closes for all pupils on Tuesday 21st July at lunchtime for the summer break. We reopen for all pupils on Thursday 3rd September. We wish you all a safe and happy summer break.
