If your child turns four years old by 31st August 2023, they will be eligible to start reception in September 2023.  If they turn four by 31st August 2024, they will be eligible to start reception in September 2024.  You can find out more information about starting reception on our Early Years Foundation Stage page.

Applying for a place at The Ridgeway Primary School

Admission to all year groups from Reception to Year 6 is managed by the Brighter Futures for Children's Admissions Team.  This includes admission for pupils starting reception from September and also for in-year admissions for parents/carers who wish to transfer pupils from another school, perhaps due to a house move or other personal circumstances.

We have places for 60 children to enter reception and applications should be made by 15th January 2024 so that your place is allocated in time for national offer day, 16th April 2024.  If you apply for your child's place online, you will be informed of your child's allocated school place on 16th April 2024 by email.

If you miss the deadline, your child's name will be added to a waiting list and you may not get a place at your preferred school.  Late applications are processed after national offer day and parents/carers are usually informed of their child's school place at the end of May.

When you receive your offer, it is important that you accept the offer promptly so that your child's school place is secured.

Applying for a place in The Ridgeway Nursery Class

Nursery admissions are managed by the school.  Please contact the school office to complete an application for a Nursery place for your child.  Children usually start Nursery after their third birthday and at the moment we are offering a Nursery class in the morning only.  Our Nursery Admissions Policy can be found in the policies section of our website. 

Applying for a secondary school place for children in Year 6

Applications for secondary school places should be made by the end of October 2024 so that your child is offered a place in the first round of allocations.  If you apply for your child's place online, you will be informed of your child's allocated secondary school place by March 2024.  If you miss the October deadline, your child's name will be added to a waiting list and you may not get a place at their preferred school.  

Information about applying for a secondary school place is sent to all parents/carers when children return to school in September.  Please look out for the pack and check with the school office if you do not receive yours.
