Homework

Reading

Reading to an adult or independently for 20 minutes a day five times a week.

Bonus homework: An adult reads a story to their child and discusses the book.

Please try to read every day as this is the most important thing to help improve your reading and writing.

Maths

We will be spending the first term focusing on number bonds and place value. It is essential that all children are confident with this in order to access the Year 3 curriculum.

By the end of Year 4 the children are expected to know their times tables up to 12 x 12 and be confident using them to solve problems. This means that in Year 3, it is really important to spend time learning times tables at home so that the more difficult tables can be covered next year.

We expect children to be learning which ever times table they do not know at home. Once children are secure in their 2, 5 and 10 times tables move onto practising the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.
