Equality Objectives
At The Ridgeway Primary School, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, belief, religion, socio-economic background, disability or additional need including SEND, gender or transgender, relationship or gender preference. These will be referred to as protected characteristics.
In order to further support pupils, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set the following objectives:
Objective 1: to monitor and analyse pupil achievement across a range of protected characteristics and act on any trends or patterns in the data that may indicate the need for additional support for individuals or groups of pupils;
Objective 2: to raise levels of attainment in core subjects for disadvantaged pupils, closing the attainment gap between pupils who are disadvantaged and other pupils;
Objective 3: to develop a broad and balanced curriculum which draws on a range of cultures and identities and actively teaches children to understand, respect and value those with a range of protected characteristics;
Objective 4: to actively seek to recruit staff, governors, visitors and volunteers from a diverse range of protected characteristics;
Objective 5: to review levels of parental and pupil engagement in learning and school life, across all activities including extra-curricular opportunities, to ensure equity and fairness in access and engagement for all members of our school community.
These objectives have been set for a 4-year period (from 2021/22 to 2024/25). Each year, the Governing Board will assess progress made against these objectives and publish a report.
