Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at The Ridgeway Primary.
At the Ridgeway Primary, The Early Years Foundation Stage consists of Nursery and Reception.
Here is our EYFS policy:

Our school has a Nursery class which is currently offering a morning session.  Our Nursery class has part-time spaces for 26 children and if spaces are available, children can start the term after their third birthday. If you would like to apply for a Nursery place, you can do this once your child is two years old.  Application forms are available from the school office at or by telephoning 0118 9375530 or by downloading from the link below.

Please see the Nursery admissions policy below to see how places are allocated if we are over-subscribed.

Reception intake for September 2021

If your child turns 4 years old before 1st September 2021, they will be eligible to begin Reception next September.

Application packs are given out at all Nurseries during November, but are also available from Reading Borough Council. (see Brighter Horizons web page above). The closing date for applications is 15th January 2021.

We would usually be offering tours of our school to prospective parents or carers during this Autumn term.  However, due to the current COVID situation we are unable to allow visitors to enter classrooms or areas where children are at school.

Instead, we happy to offer a tour of the school grounds and answer any questions that you may have.  These tours will occur on Wednesday mornings at 9:30am and each tour will have no more than two families attending.

If you would like to arrange a visit to our school on a Wednesday morning, please email Mrs Arslett (our EYFS leader) on
